About Margaret
My journey to preserving stories began as a life in the theatre. I worked as an actor here in New York City and regionally for about a decade before taking a hiatus to raise my daughter. During this time, I went back to school to study Public History, a field where I can combine my passion for history, people, and storytelling. I currently work as the Speakers Bureau Manager at the Museum of Jewish Heritage, where I work with Holocaust survivors and their families to bring their stories of survival to student and adult groups. As a Museum professional, my commitment to best practices for oral history is of the utmost importance; as a daughter and mother, I feel strongly about the preservation of memories over material possessions. I look forward to working with your family to create a legacy of voices and memories.
I’m always working on something on the side.
The creative side of my history education can be found on my etsy shop, A My Name Is Alice. There, I use images of historical moments and figures that interest me academically and aesthetically to create glass découpage plates. My most recent commission was for The Thomas Jefferson Foundation at Monticello.
