About Legacy Voices
Legacy Voices will not only help families document their histories, but also provide a meaningful way to celebrate and remember loved ones. Recording a family member’s life story presents a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between past and present by documenting family oral histories. Legacy Voices not only addresses a growing need for personal narrative preservation, but also fosters connection and understanding within families. By creating a dedicated service, I am ensuring that these stories are captured for generations to come.
How do I start?
After you sign up, we’ll schedule an initial interview to go over some basic outlines and to become more comfortable with one another. At the final interview, I will guide you through the process of sharing your life story. You can choose to do the interview in person or virtually, depending on your preference. The interview will be recorded and preserved as an authentic, unedited video. This approach ensures your story remains true to your voice and avoids any interpretation by me or the videographer. Once finished, your video will be available for download, and I will maintain a copy in my personal archive for safekeeping. I will also provide a transcript of the interview for your reference.

In a virtual interview, a recorded Zoom file of the interview with the speaker view and auto generated transcript will be preserved. It will take between 1.5-2 hours depending on the subject.
When you schedule an in-person interview, my videographer will set up in your home or another approved location for about one hour before your 1.5-2 hour interview. They will bring a camera, lighting, and sound equipment.
In both cases, I ask that family members not be in the room during the interview, and in both cases, we will take breaks as needed.

Of course! You can update your video or add new content at any time. Just schedule another interview with me, and I’ll incorporate the new material into your existing archive. Additionally, we can create an edited presentation that includes supplementary materials such as maps, photos, and other visuals to enrich your story.

Your privacy is a priority. The video will be available for you to download, and I will keep a personal copy in my archive. If you choose to create an edited presentation, it will be available as a private link that is both downloadable and shareable with people of your choosing. You have full control over who has access to your content. I will never share your videos or materials without your explicit permission.

Yes! You can easily share your life story video with your loved ones by providing them with the download link to your video or an edited presentation. You control who can view your content by sharing your private link with them.

I’m skilled at helping guide the conversation to make sure you feel comfortable and confident. I’ll ask thoughtful questions and provide prompts to help you tell your story naturally. Plus, we can add additional elements, like photos or maps, to make your story even richer and more dynamic.
